DECEMBRISTERNE IN DIALOGUE WITH AUTHORS, ARTISTS, PHILOSOPHERS, AND SCIENTISTS. New works of art by the members of Decembristerne formed the base for the artists' association's exhibition at Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art in the Fall of 2011. |

Each member of the group participated in dialogue with an author, scientist or philosopher - thereby evoking another understanding of the process and the work - the idea was to emphasise each artist’s unique work in the context.
For Instance, Decembrist Steen Møller Rasmussen collaborated with the author and poet Morten Søndergaard, and Doris Bloom had paired with professor in physics at DTU, Tomas Bohr. Author and novelist Jan Sonnergaard verbalised the work of Elmer, while Hans Christian Rylander was visited by the vicar Poul Joachim Stender.
The interdisciplinary dialogue resulted in 16 texts, evolved from these collaborations. The texts are assembled in an exhibition folder.
The artists' associations represent a way of organisation, which has been important for the artists in order to survive in Denmark during the last century. This exhibition of Decembristerne showed how the idea of the artists' associations can be developed. The idea of the exhibition was to include both tradition and innovation and offer a view of our time and the variety in Danish art today.
Decembristerne is a non-homogeneous group. The group does not have a manifest or a universal goal, it is characterised by artistic individuality. It is the unique ways of expression and the investigations of what is central to human values, that characterise the artistic expression within Decembristerne.
The artistic language within the group finds its expression both within the traditional media of painting, sculpture and photography as well as within installation art. The exhibition was visually and thematically coherent and display an interdisciplinary and spiritual sense of community.
