We offer regular guided tours in the current exhibition. Furthermore we offer a guided tour with focus on Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art’s history and architecture, while the Eye Opener is a free opportunity for all visitors during weekends.
GUIDED TOURS IN THE CURRENT EXHIBITION Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art offers regular guided tours in the changing exhibitions that can be organized according to specific wishes, target groups, or focus areas. DURATION: Approx. 45 minutes PARTICIPANTS: Max. 30 people PRICE: 450 DKK.
EYE OPENER Open your eyes to art! The Eye Opener is a free opportunity for all our visitors during weekends, a 20 minutes introduction to the current exhibition. The purpose is to offer the visitors one or more possible entrances to further immersion in the exhibition. The Eye Opener can be an overall introduction to the exhibition’s subject matter, the curator’s thoughts about the exhibition, or it can unfold a specific historical threat. It can also be an Eye Opener that takes an analytical or thematic starting point in one artwork and thereby embracing the exhibition by alternative routes. DURATION: 15-20 minutes TIME: Saturdays and Sundays at 14 pm. PRICE: Free
MEMBER’S GUIDED TOUR Members of Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art is offered an exclusive guided tour in each of the 8 yearly exhibitions. One person from our communication team will show around and give insight into the exhibition’s subject matters and individual artworks. This is a special event for our members who hereby get the opportunity to gain insight into the many aspects existing in front and behind the exhibition scene. Wine is served during the event. DURATION: Approx. 1 hour TIME: The first Thursday in the exhibition period, 7.30 – 8.30 pm. PRICE: Only for members. Free entrance with membership.
DEN FRIE CENTRE OF CONTEMPORARY ART – ARCHITECTURE AND HISTORY Come inside of Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art and gain insight into the thoughts and history behind the characteristic building, designed by J.F. Willumsen, built in 1898. With its distinctive architecture inspired by Egyptian sarcophagus' and Greek temples Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art is an exciting and different art institution. The building was constructed for the artist association Den Frie Udstilling. The façade’s front relief depicts Pegasus – a symbol from Greek mythology of the free art and the poets’ inspiration. During a guided tour in Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art’s architecture and history we talk about the building’s interesting birth process and forward looking profile with new initiatives and possibilities of development.
